jaded fear
October 9th, 2025
pearlescent stars in shades of rainbow hue
we take it for granted,
the things we're too scared to do.
why is there so much color in the things that we fear?
the saddle is scratched
from hours of her sitting in the saddle,
yet her & her horse were unmoving.
standing still.
always brave enough to get on
one foot in the stirrup,
hike herself up,
another foot in the stirrup.
- but never brave enough to take a step forward.
it's never enough.
the pasture is engulfed with wildflowers
in slow-wilting waves of blue;
it looks so inviting,
but is there danger underneath the surface?
you never know until you wade in.
but nevertheless,
her horse waits for her.
steadfast and kind
he knows the fearful feeling,
but knows he's never alone
awaiting her guiding hand.
he waits the waiting with her,
for her.
anything for her.
one day they'll walk out into the wild,
stepping into the other side of fear,
and see just how beautiful the petaled sea of pastel stars really is
through the blur of their eyes
as they ride through the dawn at the speed of hard-fought freedom.
-
there is a prismatic reflection of God's grace written throughout the sky;
she'd never seen anything more beautiful.
